Cisco continues to lead the market by a huge margin

Experts from the analytical company IDC have summed up the results of the third quarter of 2020 in the market of Ethernet switches and enterprise-grade routers. According to their calculations, sales of switches in annual terms increased by 1.9%. On the other hand, sales of routers, on the other hand, have declined just as much. More precisely, they decreased by 2.0%, amounting to $ 3.67 billion. Switch sales were $ 7.45 billion.

Analysts attribute the multidirectional movement of two large segments of network infrastructure to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is forcing companies around the world to adapt to new conditions. Including – adjusting the cost of information technology. Notably, growth in the Ethernet switch segment has been primarily driven by large data centers, cloud providers, and communications service providers.
