Facebook Messenger got support for the screen sharing feature during a call
Facebook Messenger has received support for Screen Sharing, which will allow you to share a picture from your smartphone with other participants in the conversation. The feature can be used when making a call to a single user, in a group chat, or during a larger meeting in Messenger Rooms.
Screen Sharing is supported on Facebook Messenger for conversations with up to eight people, and Messenger Rooms for up to 16 people. According to reports, Facebook is working to expand the capabilities of this tool and soon in Messenger Rooms, it will be possible to share the screen in conversations with up to 50 people. Already, a new feature is available for mobile devices based on Android and iOS. It is expected that in the future Screen Sharing will be supported in the web version of the service.

To share the screen with other participants in the conversation, you need to swipe your finger from the bottom of the screen to the top, opening the call options. After that, you need to select the item “Share your screen” and double-confirm this by clicking on the items “Start sharing” and “Start broadcasting”. Obviously, additional confirmations are required so that users do not activate this function by mistake.
The device’s screen sharing function is especially important in the current environment when people have to stay at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. It can be useful both when communicating with friends and relatives and during workshops. While similar features are already available in other video conferencing services like Skype or Zoom, Messenger is more in demand on mobile devices, so screen sharing is an important improvement.
