“ Let‘s start with fake accounts. We take a tough stance against such activity and block millions of fake accounts every day, most of them still at the creation stage. From October to December 2020, we have blocked over 1.3 billion such accounts, ”Facebook said.

It is noted that the developers continue to fight the spread of disinformation on the platform actively. Over the past three years, more than 100 ” coordinated misbehavior ” networks have been identified and blocked, according to Facebook. In the future, the company will continue to fight the spread of disinformation and will regularly inform the public about the work in this direction.

It is noted that users can spread misinformation unknowingly. To combat this, the company has created a global network of more than 80 independent experts who carry out fact-checking in more than 60 languages. When experts assess any message as false, Facebook restricts its distribution and also marks it with a special label, warning users.

According to published data, more than 35,000 Facebook employees are currently deployed to combat fake accounts and misinformation. Besides, special algorithms are used to perform these tasks. It is noted that more than 12 million publications related to the coronavirus pandemic were removed from the Facebook platform, which was recognized as false by health experts.
