Final Fantasy VII Remake PS5 Expanded Trailer – Dedicated Team Working On Lighting For The First Time

In February, publisher Square Enix has submitted Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade – improvements and additions under 5 PlayStation versions of last year’s game. At the same time, the official comparison video was launched. And now the developers have released an extended trailer that includes 3 additional minutes of comparisons. The team also talked about the lighting work.

Intergrade will offer two modes of operation – quality (prioritized for 4K resolution) and performance (prioritized for 60fps). Also, loading times will be reduced, graphics (textures, lighting, environment) will be improved, fog effects, photo mode, DualSense support, classic difficulty level will be added. And some of the changes will be more subtle.

Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase spoke about the changes in the PS5 version. For example, the developers drew the audience’s attention to a tree in the Shinra building. A direct comparison gives the impression that this is a different tree, but in reality, the model is the same – just the lighting has changed, it has become richer and more realistic:

It looks like Square Enix didn’t just add a few PlayStation 5 touches on top of the older version of the game. For the first time in Final Fantasy history, Kitase said, a separate team of lighting professionals was created to place sources and refine the lighting in the game to make the scene appear deeper and more picturesque.

As a reminder, Intergrade will also feature an additional episode starring the ninja Yuffie Kisaragi. The developers promise innovations in the gameplay and combat system and a fresh look at Final Fantasy VII Remake history. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on June 10. The update itself will be free for Final Fantasy VII Remake owners on PS4, but the episode with Yuffie will have to be purchased separately. Final Fantasy VII Remake, which includes only the first part of the original game’s story, is currently only available on PlayStation 4. Still, the temporary exclusivity will end on April 10th.
