Update version 1.3.0 is available for free on the manufacturer’s website
Canon has released a firmware update for the EOS R5 mirrorless camera. Firmware version 1.3.0 adds support for Canon Log 3, or C-Log 3 for short, to the specified camera. This profile, which is a “log gamma curve designed to achieve a very wide dynamic range and compatibility with filmmaking workflows”, is available in Canon Cinema EOS cameras. It not only expands the capabilities of the EOS R5 as a stand-alone camera but also makes it easier to simultaneously use footage captured with the EOS R5 and Cinema EOS cameras.
The firmware update adds C-Log 3 profile and 120fps Full HD video to Canon EOS R5
After the update, shooting with Full HD resolution and frame rates up to 120 fps becomes available. It allows you to get the effect of slowing down the movement.
Another innovation is the low bitrate recording option. Canon says it will come in handy when shooting “smaller footage with less detail.”
The update also adds an option to turn off the LCD backlight, display FTP transfer status, secure image transfer, save and load settings from a memory card. Of course, some bugs have been fixed.
