And the Hopper generation GPU – according to the 5 nm manufacturing process

In a few days, Nvidia can tell us about the Ampere architecture, which will form the basis of the next-generation GPU. Ampere video cards themselves are expected in late summer or fall.

GeForce graphics cards finally catch up with Radeon. Ampere generation Nvidia GPUs will be manufactured using 7nm process technology

There was no consensus on the process technology for the new GPUs on the Web. Some sources talked about 7 nm, while others claimed that Nvidia would continue to use the 12-nanometer process technology to lower production costs and keep video card prices down.

New data indicate the first option. It is reported that Nvidia is officially one of the largest customers of TSMC regarding the 7 nm process technology. Given that Nvidia does not have any such products now, this is clearly about Ampere video cards.

The transition to a new process technology will allow the company to reduce the size of the GPU, increase the number of execution units, and raise the frequency. Recent rumors have indicated that the top-end GeForce RTX 3080 Ti can get a GPU with 8192 CUDA cores.

Also, sources say that Samsung has already received orders for the production of future graphics processors for the 5 nm process technology. It is assumed that we are talking about the Nvidia GPU of the Hopper generation, which will be released after Ampere.
