April 10, 11 or 12

According to a notice released Tuesday, April 4 by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a historic SpaceX Starship rocket launch could take place next week.

The FAA notice says the expected launch date is April 10, but lists fallback dates of April 11 and 12. Billionaire Elon Musk’s giant rocket still needs to be licensed to launch.

“The FAA has not made a decision to issue a license to launch SpaceX Starship Super Heavy, and the published notice should not be interpreted as an indication that a decision to issue a license has been made or is pending,” the FAA said in a statement.

SpaceX’s launch license for the Starship test could be issued by the FAA next Monday, April 10, according to a person familiar with the process, who asked not to be named. He noted that the licensing process, although nearing completion, could take longer due to environmental compliance checks.

Recall that we are talking about the first orbital launch of a fully equipped Starship rocket system with a height of 120 meters, consisting of a Starship rocket installed on a Super Heavy first-stage launch vehicle with 33 rocket engines.

The rocket system is expected to send the second stage of Starship into space. The spacecraft will complete a full orbit before re-entering Earth’s atmosphere and landing miles off the coast in Hawaii.

The Super Heavy booster will attempt to land in Texas near the launch pad. SpaceX says Starship will be a fully reusable transport system to carry crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon and Mars.
