Gigabyte equips the Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming OC with three additional power connectors and a powerful cooler

Although the video card manufacturers themselves are in no hurry to present their proprietary versions of the Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics accelerators, more and more images of such video cards appear on the Web. This time, VideoCardz has published images of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming OC video card.

It seems that all non-reference versions of the Radeon RX 6900 XT will receive three 8-pin additional power connectors. Previously, we could see this graphics accelerator model performed by ASRock Taichi, ASUS ROG Strix LC and PowerColor Red Devil. And all of them are equipped with this configuration of the power subsystem. The Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming OC from Gigabyte is no exception.

Another feature of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming OC is the use of a non-standard set of video interfaces. The card is equipped with two DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 while the reference variant uses two DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI and one USB Type-C, which the Gigabyte variant, unfortunately, does not have.

The technical characteristics of the Gigabyte version remain unknown at the moment, but the presence of the “OC” postscript in its name may indicate the presence of factory overclocking.

Recall that the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is equipped with 5120 stream processors, 80 ray tracing units (Ray Accelerators) and 128 raster units. The flagship Radeon graphics accelerator is based on the new RDNA 2 architecture and is a direct competitor to NVIDIA’s older model, the GeForce RTX 3090.

On sale Gigabyte, Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming OC should appear before the end of this month. However, the availability of the Radeon RX 6000 series is currently even worse than NVIDIA’s Ampere-based offerings. The Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT models are almost impossible to find on the free market. And the older model has not even appeared in many stores. It is very likely that due to the current shortage, even basic non-reference solutions like the Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming OC will sell much more expensive than one might expect.
