GM to reveal all-electric Hummer EV SUV on April 3

General Motors will unveil the Hummer EV electric SUV on April 3. It is based on the Hummer EV pickup of the same name, presented in October last year, with a range of up to 350 miles (563 km). The automaker has shared an image of the silhouette of a future zero-emission all-terrain vehicle.

As indicated by specialized publications, the SUV will retain the thick C-pillar from the pickup. At the same time, the SUV version will receive a longer roof and a wider body in the rear fenders’ area. The front of the SUV has been slightly modified, but the towing eyes are still there. On the technical side, the SUV, most likely, will not differ from the electric pickup. The platform is the same for both versions, and the different body types should not affect the engines and batteries. The interiors of the two electric cars should also be similar.

Today, GMC revealed the all-electric GMC Hummer EV pickup truck undergoing rigorous cold testing in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The company explains that the team drove the 1,000-horsepower “super pickup” across various slippery surfaces, including snow, ice, steep slopes, and more.

“Key tests include the integration of its powerful all-wheel-drive torque distribution with traction control, as well as calibration and testing of the electronic stability control.”

The Hummer EV will be the first vehicle built on the new GM Ultium battery platform, offering capacities from 50 to 200 kWh and providing a range of up to 400 miles (640 km). For SUVs, Ultium will offer 800-volt battery packs and 350 kW fast charging support.
