Google begins testing picture-in-picture feature in YouTube for iOS

Picture-in-picture has been available to iPad users since iOS 9, and this year Apple added it to iPhones running iOS 14. However, the YouTube app has never supported this feature before. But now that may be changing, as it has become known that Google has begun testing picture-in-picture functionality in the YouTube iOS app.

According to Twitter posts, picture-in-picture is gradually becoming available to some users of the latest version of YouTube for iOS. Some reports say that this feature only works with certain videos, which may indicate that Google is still working on a new feature. Online edition 9to5Mac was able to test the function. Picture-in-Picture for YouTube works just like any other application. If you start watching the video and then close the application, the video will continue to play in a reduced window, and the user will be able to freely use all the capabilities of the smartphone.
