Google Chrome has learned to hide notifications during video conferences

Often, within the framework of corporate video conferencing, it is necessary to show presentations by demonstrating a screen. And it happens that personal information comes in notifications that are not intended for the eyes of colleagues. Chrome now solves this problem.

Google Chrome

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, employees of many companies have been transferred to remote work, which has increased the demand for various video conferencing services. Google knows this, and now, when using platforms like Google Meet, if you suddenly make a screen sharing online, the browser will hide incoming notifications. In this case, Chrome will still notify you – received notifications can be viewed immediately after the end of the conference. The company notes that such a “trick” will allow less distraction during work, and, of course, will save confidentiality.

The function has been available in Chrome 88 since last week for all users and turns on automatically, although it can work so far only with notifications that come directly from the browser itself.
