Google Gboard onscreen keyboard now available on Wear OS smartwatches
Google‘s Gboard onscreen keyboard has long been available on Android, iOS, and Android TV devices. Soon it will be able to be used by owners of smartwatches based on Wear OS. Google said it is ” a faster and easier way to exchange messages ” using wearable devices.
Wear OS currently uses the Google Keyboard. Along with the new keyboard, users will have access to a more convenient user interface, in the upper part of which there are icons for quick access to the emoji collection, the numeric keypad, and the voice input function. Previously, it was not possible to access the microphone from the keyboard interface.
Another feature of Gboard for Wear OS is its support for predictive text input when text is analyzed during the typing process, and the user is presented with different endings of words. The developers have implemented support for text input using swipes and the ability to enter in different languages. You can switch between different keyboard options right inside the application, click on the corresponding icon and select the desired language. Gboard will get support for all languages that Wear OS itself supports.
