Google Lens app downloads hit half a billion

Another Google app has surpassed the 500 million download mark on Google Play. This time it’s about Google Lens. Launched in 2018, the app has a ton of useful features that many users don’t even know about.

Many people use Google Lens to translate road signs and signs interactively when travelling abroad. However, the app is capable of much more. It has built-in functions for scanning QR codes, recognizing text from images, solving equations and helping you to make purchases on the most favourable terms. It is important to note that Google Lens is not pre-installed on smartphones, so most downloads are made by people who choose it from Google Play on their own. Some of the features have found use in Google Camera over time, but Lens still has practically no worthy alternatives.

Recall that in September last year, the threshold of 500 million downloads was crossed by the YouTube Music application. Obviously, such indicators indicate the high quality and relevance of Google applications.
