Google Phone app will help fight spam calls

The popular Google Phone app continues to evolve with useful features. This time, the developers have added the “Confirmed Calls” feature to it, which will allow users to see exactly who is calling them from unknown numbers.

The new function will allow the application to determine in real-time who exactly is calling the user from an unknown number, and for what purpose he is doing it. The number will be checked against the databases of telephone numbers. If matches are found, Google Phone will display a message on the smartphone screen stating that the caller has been confirmed. In addition, the message will tell you which company owns the number, and for what purpose it can call you. This can be useful because users often do not want to answer advertising calls, but clearly do not want to miss some important call, for example, from a bank with a message about suspicious charges from the user’s credit card.

“Confirmed Calls” is reminiscent of the “Confirmed SMS” feature that Google launched last year to combat spam. With its help, the user will see who and why is calling him from an unknown number, making it easier to decide whether to answer the call or not. The Verified Calls feature will soon be available to Google Phone users in the US, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and India.
