Google Photos update expands image editing experience and simplifies app interface

It became known about the beginning of the distribution of a major update for the popular Google Photos application. It will bring with it an updated photo editor user interface as well as a new feature based on machine learning.

In the new version of the Google Photos application, the Suggestions tab has appeared in the photo editing menu, which allows you to make automatic adjustments to the viewed images. The function uses machine learning to make changes to some parameters of the photo, such as brightness, contrast, and portrait effects. The same tool allows you to make the background of the image in black and white, without changing the color of the main object in the image. In the coming months, developers from Google promise to expand the capabilities of the Suggestions tool. If the user did not like how the application processed a particular picture automatically, you can cancel the changes or continue editing yourself.

The interface of the image editor itself has also changed, becoming simpler and easier to understand. In addition, the new Portrait Lighting feature is now available to Google Photos users on the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 smartphones. This feature can automatically or manually adjust the lighting of faces in portrait shots. If necessary, this tool can be applied to photos that were not created in portrait mode. Portrait lighting will soon be available on Pixel smartphones. When it may appear on other smartphones with Android is still unknown.
