Google Stadia game streaming service will be preinstalled on Chromebooks

It looks like Google wants to turn Chromebooks into a gaming platform. This is corroborated by a developer statement on Twitter, which said the new laptops based on Chrome OS would ship with Google Stadia pre-installed.

“ Did you know that Chromebooks now come with @GoogleStadia already installed? Start playing games without waiting for downloads or updates. To start playing, click the Stadia icon in the Applications menu, the developers said.

The source adds that the Stadia link is launching a non-matching Android app as it did before. Instead, Google has added a Progressive Web Application (PWA) to Chrome OS, which is essentially a self-contained web page that allows you to interact with the Stadia service through a browser rather than an application. This approach will also allow Google to deliver all the latest updates quickly.

The arrival of the pre-installed Stadia service in Chromebooks speaks of Google’s desire to expand the gaming platform’s user base by attracting people working on laptops that are not distinguished by high performance. According to reports, Google will offer a three-month free Stadia subscription with every Chromebook it sells, potentially expanding the gaming service’s user base.

Earlier this month, we will remind you that Google announced that it would not develop exclusive games for the Stadia service. Instead, the company decided to focus on supporting the gaming platform and promoting it to third-party developers and publishers.
