Google Fit to be tested on Pixel smartphones first
Google taught Android new camera tricks. You can determine the heart rate without additional equipment and sensors
The Google Fit app has added the ability to determine the breathing rate by simply pointing the camera lens at a person. The user just needs to get into the lens of a selfie camera and just breathe. The software monitors how the user’s chest rises and falls, calculating the breathing rate.
To determine the pulse, you need to put your finger on the rear camera lens. In this case, the software monitors skin color changes at the fingertips, which changes with the pulse rate.
Both of these features allow you to track your heart rate and respiration using only your smartphone, without additional equipment or sensors. Google emphasizes that they are not suitable for accurate medical diagnosis but may be useful for daily use.
First, the new Google Fit feature will be available to smartphones from the Google Pixel lineup. However, Google has confirmed plans to launch on other Android devices as well.
