Halo 5: Guardians will not specifically update for Xbox Series X and S

343 Industries community manager John Junyszek, in a report to mark the start of testing the PC version of Halo 4 on the official Halo series website, mentioned the studio’s plans for Halo 5: Guardians.

Previously, 343 Industries confirmed its intentions to improve the technical component of Halo: The Master Chief Collection  (MCC) games for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Halo 5: Guardians is not (and is not going to ) be part of the anthology, but fans of the franchise are still wondering if the game will receive a similar update. As it turned out, no – not waiting.

What is the reason for 343 Industries’ decision to leave the most recent numbered issue of the series the only one without full support for the Xbox Series X and S, Unizhek did not elaborate but promised some advantages to the owners of the new Microsoft consoles.

“While Halo 5 may not get the Xbox Series X and Series S updates as part of the MCC, owners of next-gen hardware will see the benefits of faster downloads and higher resolutions,” Yunizhek said.

Recall that 343 Industries promise that games in the MCC on Xbox Series X and S will run at 120 fps and in resolutions up to 4K (on Xbox Series X). Improvements are planned for both story campaigns and multiplayer.

Halo 5: Guardians premiered in October 2015 exclusively on Xbox One. In three months since the release, the sales of the game reached 5 million copies, and by May 2017 they reached the level of the previous parts.
