Heavy missile “Angara-A5” went into serial production

According to RIA Novosti , an order from the RF Ministry of Defense for serial production of Angara-A5 heavy missiles was found on the government procurement website. The missiles will be ready in 2022-2024 in the amount of four pieces. Apparently, they will become part of the final test program for this type of launch vehicle. Six launches of Angara-A5 with mock-ups are planned, two of which have been successfully completed. This will mark the beginning of a new generation of RN dynasty for decades to come.

Earlier it was reported that the contract for the serial production of Angara-A5 missiles was signed in May 2020. According to government procurement data, these will be launch vehicles with numbers from 71757 to 71760. The first launch of Angara-A5 with a mass and size model was made in 2014, and the second – in 2020. During the last launch, this launch vehicle put 2,420 kg into geostationary orbit dummy load. The study of the flight showed that the “Angara-A5” from the Plesetsk cosmodrome is capable of removing cargo weighing more than 2.5 tons.

The “Angara” family, which has been developed since the 90s of the last century, includes light-class launch vehicles (“Angara-1.1”, “Angara-1.2”), heavy (“Angara-A5”) and superheavy (“Angara-A5V” ). It was decided to abandon the development of the medium-class launch vehicle “Angara-A3” in 2019. The Angara-A5V launch vehicle is viewed as a strategic part of the Russian lunar program, although it was also thought to be abandoned several years ago.

Let us add that from July to September this year, the third launch of Angara-A5 with a weight and size model is to take place. There is also information that this year the first launch of this LV with a real satellite, and not with a model, may take place.
