Huawei is expected to release an initial version of Hongmeng OS for the Chinese market, and during testing will launch HarmonyOS worldwide
In August 2019, Huawei launched the development of its own HarmonyOS operating system, which is called Hongmeng OS in China. This new OS is designed to provide diverse experiences across all devices in a wide variety of scenarios.
Huge list of Huawei and Honor devices in line for HarmonyOS
Initially, the operating system only supported Huawei smart TVs. However, due to growing pressure from the United States, Huawei has accelerated the pace of development and prepared to bring HarmonyOS to more platforms.
At Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2020, Huawei announced HarmonyOS 2.0. Huawei Consumer BG CEO Richard Yu said that the first Huawei smartphone with HarmonyOS will be released in 2021, and the HarmonyOS mobile developer beta will be released in December.
Huawei is expected to release an initial version of Hongmeng OS for the Chinese market, and during testing, it will launch HarmonyOS worldwide. Huawei is likely to prioritize devices launched with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) only.
