Huge update for Google Photos brings new features, redesign and fresh logo

In redesigned Google Photos, Google focuses on finding content. A new structure has appeared with three tabs: Photo, Search, and Library. The main tab “Photos” contains all your photos and videos, but now you will see large thumbnails, automatically playing videos and fewer spaces between photos. At the very top, you will also notice a large “Memories” carousel.

Search is becoming more convenient and intelligent. The Library tab contains Albums, Favorites, Recycle Bin, Archive, and more. And if you are in the USA, the EU, or Canada, you will also see a map of print shops where you can purchase printed materials with your own photos.

Also, users have access to an interactive map of your photos and videos, which has become one of the most popular features since the launch of Google Photos. You can zoom in around the globe to explore photos of your travels, see where you took the most photos.

Last fall, Google introduced Memories to remind us of the best events of past years. Over 120 million people watch memories every month. Now, new types of memories have been added, including the best photos with you and your close friends and family over the past years, trips, and even the highlights of the past week.
