Instagram is testing new “Stories” for the desktop web version of the platform

Popular photo and video sharing platform Instagram is testing a new design for Stories. The updated feature will make it easier to view in the desktop web version of the application.

The new design of “Stories” provides for the display mode in the form of a “carousel”, and not in the form of just one “Story”, which takes up the entire page at once. Navigation remains the same – you can manually scroll through the “Stories” or let them switch automatically.

It is not yet clear how widespread the distribution of the new Stories design is to users, and when the updated feature will become permanent and stable. According to Engadget, an Instagram spokesperson confirmed that testing began on a “small group” of users last month.

According to the source, Instagram continues to slowly but surely improve its desktop app. Stories have always been one of the most inconvenient features, especially on large screens, so making changes to this feature, although not a big update, will definitely be noticed by customers who are used to using the platform outside of the mobile application.
