Instagram will protect from intrusive interlocutors and unwanted messages
Social network Instagram has announced a new tool to combat unwanted communication. The company will add a filter for messages from strangers containing insults and obscene language. This is reported on the platform’s website.
The company has partnered with leading anti-discrimination and anti-bullying organizations to create the tool. The option is designed to protect users from unwanted contacts and insults on racial, sexual or ethnic grounds. Also, the filter will filter out messages with offensive emoticons and obscene language.
The user will be able to activate or deactivate the option. The list of offensive words, phrases, or emoticons can also be determined independently. According to the developers, all filtering will be carried out exclusively on devices and not sent to the company’s servers. Thanks to this, users will keep the privacy of their correspondence.
The company will add this option in several countries in the next few weeks, but the exact list has not been specified. In the future, the developers plan to expand the geography of its use gradually.
