At the end of this year, according to many reports, Intel is due to release Rocket Lake desktop processors. It will still be 14-nanometer CPUs, but with a new architecture and new GPUs.

Intel’s new desktop CPUs probably have to wait until next year. Rocket Lake CPU architecture will be renamed

Rocket Lake will be based on the Willow Cove architecture, on which the upcoming Tiger Lake mobile CPUs are based. However, according to new data, Intel will not call the architecture of Rocket Lake processors by its real name. Instead, the company will use the name Cypress Cove.

Why would this be done? It is possible not to confuse users once again, and also not to cast a shadow on the Tiger Lake 10-nanometer CPUs, because their desktop counterparts will still use 14 nm standards.

Also, the source believes that Rocket Lake in the end may not be released this year, but at the beginning of next. In any case, they will have to compete with the desktop Ryzen 4000 on the Zen 3 architecture, and the outcome of this battle is most likely already predetermined.
