Lenovo mentions another unrepresented Ampere graphics card – GeForce RTX 3070 SUPER with 8 GB GDDR6
Earlier today, we announced the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB of video memory as part of Lenovo’s new Legion series gaming computer. This graphics accelerator has not yet been announced by NVIDIA. As it turned out, the surprises did not end there. Lenovo is preparing another model of the gaming station, in the configuration of which there is another unannounced video card – GeForce RTX 3070 SUPER.

As we said in the last news, Lenovo could have simply made a mistake in the system specifications. At one time, she announced the existence of the GeForce GTX 1180 video card is part of one of her systems. Only this model never existed. Perhaps the same is the case with the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 SUPER mentioned today. But for now, it cannot be ruled out that the Chinese manufacturer accidentally announced the existence of the GeForce RTX 3070 SUPER model ahead of time.
The GeForce SUPER or Ti series cards should appear over time anyway since there is a large gap in both performance and memory capacity between the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 models. This became evident even when the original versions of these cards were announced. However, the appearance of SUPER or Ti versions as updated models, as was the case with the GeForce RTX 20xx series, was not expected earlier than in a year.
In theory, the updated models will be able to offer an even higher level of performance for the same price that NVIDIA announced for the original versions. In addition, they can also serve as an additional argument against AMD’s upcoming series of desktop graphics cards based on the new AMD RDNA2 (Navi 2X) architecture. But their announcement is expected sometime in November this year, and not in September.
