Space shows can be seen in much of the world. But unlike the supermoons of the previous months, there will be limitations for Latin America.

The eclipse is one of the favourite spatial phenomena of those who admire what happens in our sky. A set of overlapping planets turns out to be a sight to behold. Well, next June we will be able – not all – to witness two lunar eclipses.

Lunar eclipse in June

They are two different phenomena in a single month. Obviously both include the Moon; one of them has the sun as its protagonist and the other in the shadow of planet Earth. The first is titled annular eclipse of the sun. And the other penumbral eclipse.

What is a penumbral eclipse?

The process in which the Moon is completely submerged in the penumbral cone of Earth is called a penumbral eclipse. Or as the newspaper, El Heraldo defines it: it happens when the Moon decides to take a walk in the shadow of our planet. The effect can be seen with the naked eye, that is, without the need for a telescope. The show can be seen during the night of Friday, June 5 and the morning of June 6.

In addition, a fairly similar process will be repeated one month later (July 5) and another one on November 30. The penumbral eclipse can be seen in Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe. For Latin America, only those who are located in the southeast of the continent will be lucky to see it. In other words, some areas of Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.

What is the annular eclipse of the sun about?

This phenomenon has much more visual spectacle than the previous one. It occurs when the Moon is in full swing (the farthest point on Earth). In this location, it crosses the line that divides the Earth and the Sun. Due to its distance, it cannot cover the sun and generates a kind of light effects around it. They are classified as rings of fire.

Lunar Eclipse date 2020

The scheduled date for this event to occur is June 21. It will be seen in the Congo, Ethiopia, northern India, the Central African Republic and southern Pakistan. Scientists are already trying to overcome confinement to attend these territories and be able to record events in order to advance in the study and investigation of these shows.
