Microsoft launches M1-based Edge browser for Apple computers

Today, the official Twitter account Microsoft Edge Dev posted a message that the company has released a version of the Edge browser designed for Apple computers based on the M1 chip in the Canary channel. Microsoft promises improved browser performance when running on a Mac with a proprietary ARM processor.

The company did not specify exactly what improvements were made to the browser, but you can expect a faster application launch and more efficient work with the content of the pages. Recall that on Tuesday Mozilla introduced Firefox 84, optimized for the Apple M1. It launches two and a half times faster than the previous version, and the performance of web applications has doubled.

Earlier this week, Apple shared a list of apps optimized for computers based on the M1 chip. These include popular programs such as Pixelmator Pro, Adobe Lightroom, Affinity Designer, Darkroom, Fantastical, OmniFocus, BBEdit, Instapaper, and Twitter. Apple claims that M1-optimized programs perform significantly better than similar software running on Intel-based devices.
