Google tried to return the money, but did not pursue the users who spent it
Google has experienced an unexpected outage with its Google Pay payment service. As users began to report on social networks and on forums, unexpected accruals were found on their accounts – from 10 to 1000 dollars.
One of the “victims” was Android researcher Mishaal Rahman (Mishaal Rahman), who found out most of the details.
Mistake in favor of users: Google Pay failure gives away money just like that
The money came through the Google Pay Reward program. Numerous screenshots show that users have received impressive rewards for the “Google Pay Remittance Experience Trial”. Typically, such messages are sent to Google employees or testing partners. However, many regular users received multiple copies of this payout message.
After some time, Google caught on and sent an email to users detailing “an error that led to the unintentional crediting of cash to the account” and a message about the cancellation of the accrual. However, users who have already spent the money, Google allowed to keep them and take no further action.
