The Chemical Automation Design Bureau (part of Roskosmos) will present a mock-up of the new RD-0169A oxygen-methane engine at the Army-2023 International Military-Technical Forum in mid-August. It is intended for a promising reusable launch vehicle “Amur”. This rocket will receive a returnable first stage, its height will be 55 m, take-off weight – 360 tons. The engineering design phase is currently underway, which is scheduled to be completed by 2024, with the first launch expected to take place around 2028-2030.

The first stage of the Amur rocket is expected to use five RD-0169A engines. This engine is made according to the scheme with afterburning of oxidizing generator gas, has a thrust near the Earth of 100 tons, the frequency of use is up to ten times. Work on the creation of a new engine has reached the stage of manufacturing the first copy, according to the press service of Roscosmos. Now the workshops are producing components and assemblies, after which the assembly of the first engine will follow for conducting ground autonomous tests.
