New download manager is coming to Microsoft Edge

Uploading files using the browser’s built-in file manager in Edge has always been a fairly straightforward task, but even now, slow connection speeds can make the process a real problem. This may change in the future as Microsoft plans to integrate a new download manager into their browser.

According to reports, the new download manager will appear in a future version of Edge, due towards this year’s end. When loading a file, a pop-up menu will appear, allowing you to control the process. It will hide automatically, but the icon will remain on the toolbar, clicking on which the user can perform various actions, such as pausing and resuming downloads. A button will appear in the same menu that allows you to go to the downloads folder to manage downloaded files.

The source says that a new download manager for Edge is currently in development, so it’s hard to say exactly when it might appear in the browser’s stable version. In parallel, Microsoft is working on other improvements for its browser. We are talking about updated elements of the toolbar, such as collections, favorites, and history. The developers plan to improve the stylus input functionality, making it easier for users to use Edge to interact with PDF files.
