Nikon reports for the next fiscal year
With a delay that she had warned about in advance, Nikon published a report for the fiscal year 2020 ending on March 31 at the end of this week.

Revenues for the reporting period amounted to $ 5.4 billion, a decrease of 16.6% compared to the previous financial year. At the same time, operating profit fell by 91.8%, to $ 61.9 million, and net profit – by 88.4%, to $ 70.6 million. Interestingly, the Japanese manufacturer tried to assess the impact of the pandemic on financial performance. According to him, if it were not for the spread of coronavirus, operating profit could be approximately $ 90 million more. Approximately $ 37 million of this amount was lost by the photographic equipment division, as supply chains were disrupted and the release of new products was delayed.
If we continue the theme of Nikon photographic equipment, the corresponding division showed revenue of $ 2.07 billion, but at the end of the year it turned out to be unprofitable – operating losses amounted to $ 157 million. Over the year, the company managed to sell 1.62 million cameras with interchangeable lenses and 2.65 million lenses. Compact cameras sold 0.84 million units. Compared to the previous year, these indicators decreased by 21.4%, 16.4%, and 47.5%, respectively.
