Nvidia has given Linux fans access to full-fledged gaming. GPU Passthrough is now available to everyone

Now with virtualization enabled, owners of systems with GeForce graphics on the host PC can enable GPU Passthrough in the virtual guest Windows. This can be useful for gamers who will run games on Windows in this way, as well as for developers who need to test code on both Windows and Linux on the same PC.

Nvidia clarifies that the graphics cards support a single virtual machine and do not support SR-IOV. In order for multiple virtual machines to have access to your video card, it must be a professional card from the Tesla, Quadro, or RTX enterprise families. True, Nvidia no longer uses the first two brands in new products.

The new feature is supported by GeForce graphics cards from the Kepler generation, that is, from the GeForce GTX 600 line.
