OPPO has no plans to release smartphones with roll-up screens yet, although it recently introduced one

OPPO recently unveiled the OPPO X 2021 concept smartphone, the screen of which can be expanded from 6.7 to 7.4 inches thanks to a special mechanism and the use of a roll-up display. Nevertheless, as stated by OPPO itself, in the near future the company does not plan to start mass production of such devices.

In a letter to Android Authority, OPPO wrote: “ While there are no plans to commercialize it (OPPO X 2021) in the short term, it will serve as a guide for the transformation and development of future smartphone form factors. Commercialization requires market research and business justification and may take some time. “

It is speculated that OPPO may await the development of more durable flexible OLEDs. In its concept smartphone, the company used a plastic-coated BOE matrix like most of today’s foldable smartphones. However, not only the Chinese company is engaged in the development of such panels. The LG B Project foldable smartphone is expected to arrive in March, in which the Korean company will use its own production screen.
