Panasonic unveils $ 5500 rugged Toughbook 33 Windows tablet on Intel Comet Lake

Panasonic today unveiled the Toughbook 33, a rugged Windows tablet with an attachable keyboard. The device has a 12-inch 3: 2 aspect ratio screen, which may be associated with Microsoft’s Surface Book. However, the new device belongs to a completely different product category and is designed for extreme conditions.

The computer is equipped with two removable batteries at once, allowing, if necessary, to hot-swap the battery without turning off the device. Users who are not interested in this option can install a single high-capacity battery in the tablet. Curiously, the device uses tenth-generation Intel Comet Lake vPro processors. The manufacturer claims that the use of old chips is because it has been in development for quite a long time. Besides, such devices’ target audience appreciates the ability to use them in extreme conditions more than the technical stuffing made according to the latest technology. The computer is quite seriously protected only from physical impact and from hacking and data theft, thanks to Intel Hardware Shield technology. Attached to the tablet, the complete keyboard dock has a convenient carrying handle, providing the device with additional stability on uneven surfaces. We should also mention a high Full HD-matrix whose brightness is adjusted in the range from 2 to 1200 cd / m 2, making it comfortable to use the computer in any lighting condition.

The base Panasonic Toughbook 33 comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Also, a configuration with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of permanent memory is available. The computer supports Wi-Fi 6 and is equipped with an LTE modem. It can work with both physical SIM cards and eSIMs. The device can already be purchased for about $ 5500.
