PayPal will allow customers to make transactions with cryptocurrencies

During the so-called cryptocurrency boom, digital finance was more a speculative tool than a well-established means of payment. The situation may change now that the PayPal payment service is seriously interested in the opportunity to offer services for working with cryptocurrencies to its 325 million customers.

Corresponding rumors have been circulating since the end of June, and now Coindesk reports that official statements from PayPal may be made this week. The American brokerage company Paxos may become the final implementer of the new PayPal initiative to expand access to the cryptocurrency market for a wide range of users. The Venmo division, part of PayPal, will also be involved in cryptocurrency transactions. The Square platform already provides support for cryptocurrency transactions, as well as a platform for electronic trading of assets by Robinhood. Apparently, PayPal in this situation simply tries not to miss the right moment to enter the market of specialized services.

At one time, PayPal gained popularity among customers of online stores and online services due to the relative ease of use, reliability, and speed of transactions. If now PayPal in cooperation with partners can make operations with cryptocurrencies just as simple and affordable, then this will contribute to the growth of the latter precisely as a means of payment. On what conditions and in which countries the new service will be launched has not yet been announced, but details may become known by the end of this week.
