PlayStation 5 will not receive support for native resolution 1440p

The PlayStation 5 won’t support native 1440p resolution, unlike its competitor. According to IGN Italy, Sony Interactive Entertainment itself has disseminated this information.

Formally, the console will handle 1440p displays, but it will either upscale at 1080p or downscale it at 4K. In any case, there will be no native 1440p. For some reason, Sony Interactive Entertainment has a pretty sad experience with this format. The PlayStation 4 Pro, for example, has the same limitations.

The problem primarily concerns console users who want to use it with monitors. Generally, 1440p displays are preferred by PC gamers to get a high-quality picture without spending money on 4K hardware. That being said, the Xbox Series X and S work fine with 1440p monitors, and that might scare some PlayStation 5 buyers away.

The PlayStation 5 will go on sale on November 19.
