PlayStation 5 won’t get a new VR headset. Sony does not believe in the rapid popularization of virtual reality

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan has confirmed that the company is not going to take drastic steps in this direction. He said that virtual reality “is a significant component of interactive entertainment,” but so far the company is in no rush, collecting feedback from PlayStation VR owners and thinking about how it can make virtual reality entertainment much better.

PlayStation believes in VR. Sony believes that sometime in the future, virtual reality will become an essential component of interactive entertainment. Will it be this year? No. Will it be next year? No. But will this happen at some stage? We believe in this. And we are very happy with the experience we have with PlayStation VR and look forward to seeing where that will take us in the future.
