New orbital launch to take place in about 6 weeks
On Monday, June 26, SpaceX conducted static tests of the new Starship spacecraft, which is being prepared for orbital flight.
This is the new Starship, and it will attempt to climb into orbit after the last launch of the previous rocket in April, which ended in a controlled explosion. The Starship will be mounted on a Super Heavy launch vehicle for the second test flight of the reusable rocket system.
Elon Musk tweeted that the test was a “Prelude to Mars” and “a key milestone for the second flight.”

The six engines of the Starship spacecraft ran for approximately six seconds before shutting down as planned.
Musk has estimated that the launch pad, Super Heavy booster and Starship could be ready for a second launch in about six weeks. SpaceX has made over 1,000 changes to the Starship rocket since its first launch in April.
