Published a photo and characteristics of an early sample of the GPU of the future GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
At the disposal of the VideoCardz resource were photography and technical characteristics of the NVIDIA GPU, which was supposed to form the basis of the future GeForce RTX 3080 Ti video card. Based on early statements, this chip will not go into mass production: it has a non-final marking and is devoid of a mining limiter.
According to the information received by the resource, the early version of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti was based on the GA102-225 chip, which has indeed already flashed in past leaks. A VideoCardz informant confirmed that such a chip is equipped with 10,240 CUDA cores and is paired with 12 GB of GDDR6X video memory.
It is noteworthy that, according to the source, a video card based on GA102-225 is not recognized by the latest version of the video driver. This can serve as confirmation that this GPU sample was released even before NVIDIA decided to equip the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with a hardware mining limiter. Most recently, the resource Igor’s LAB explained that the manufacturer decided to re-release the entire series of GeForce RTX 3xxx video cards, including protection against mining and support for the ResizableBAR technology. However, before that, the company had already managed to send qualification samples of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti to some partners without a mining limiter. Apparently, in this case, we are talking about just one of these early samples.
The informant also provided the results of tests of the efficiency of mining cryptocurrency ETH with an early sample of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. It is 118.9 MH / s. However, this figure was achieved after optimization – the TDP of the video card was reduced to 278 V, and the effective memory frequency was increased to 21.4 GHz.
As for the characteristics of the early version of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the base frequency of the GPU of the video card is 1365 MHz, and in Boost mode, it rises to 1665 MHz. This is lower than the existing models GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090. It is noted that the lower frequency is quite justified. Otherwise, the novelty could become a threat to NVIDIA’s own flagship accelerator. The base video memory frequency is 1188 MHz, its effective indicator is 19 GHz, as in the GeForce RTX 3080 model.
However, in serial video cards GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the characteristics may be slightly different since they will use at least a different GPU version.
