Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife will be available on the Oculus Rift, and Oculus Quest – the release on these platforms will occur on April 22. The price will be $ 29.99, € 24.99, or £ 24.99. The game will be available for Steam VR on May 25. The creators did not name the exact release date for the PlayStation VR but confirmed that the PlayStation 4 would be able to buy the horror in 2021.

In January, the developers published a trailer dedicated to The Shadow – the protagonist’s evil twin and companion. “Call him the devil behind your shoulder or a voice in your head that tells you to do what you really shouldn’t do,” they noted.

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife was announced in June 2020. Players take on the role of Ed Miller’s ghost, a photographer who died during a seance. Using supernatural powers, he will uncover the Barclay estate’s secrets and find out the truth about his death. According to the authors, they tried to use scripting moments as little as possible.

Superpowers will allow the hero to pass through walls, monitor other ghosts’ movements, and move objects in the distance. The mansion is described as “a lush residence full of Hollywood decadence, evidence of occult research being carried out, and terrifying monsters hungry for revenge” Each of the hostile ghosts has a unique background and role in what is happening. The hero cannot fight them, so he must avoid meeting them.

This week, the media released previews based on the demo. In general, journalists call it promising. The UploadVR preview, which regularly publishes exclusive information about the project, notes that the game has all the ingredients for a “high-intensity VR adventure with stealth and eerie atmosphere” and that the demo “contains hints of more intimidating gameplay” Android Central noted that Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife “seemed to come from the golden age of horror” and praised the developers for the sober atmosphere and sophisticated design of the estate.

Fast Travel Games creative director Erik Odeldahl, who once worked on Mirror’s Edge Catalyst as lead designer, admitted that he draws inspiration from Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Alien: Isolation. The press and players have well received the studio’s past VR projects (Apex Construct, The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets, and Budget Cuts 2: Mission Insolvency).

In February, Nacon released RPG Werewolf’s action: The Apocalypse – Earthblood from Cyanide Studio, also based on the World of Darkness universe. Basically, he received low ratings from the press ( Metacritic  – 43-57 / 100). Another game in this setting, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, will not be released this year: last week, Paradox Interactive announced the transfer of development to another studio and postponing the release indefinitely.
