Rumors: Another Source Confirmed Konami Will Sell Metal Gear Solid Development License
It’s been a long time since the world saw the new Metal Gear Solid. But it looks like there is a chance the series will continue in the future. The insider said that the intellectual property of Metal Gear Solid has become available for acquisition by other companies.
Blogger ACG said that a trusted source that has provided him with information since the days of Far Cry Primal suggests that Microsoft could acquire a license for Metal Gear Solid’s intellectual property. If this is true, the latter will be able to develop and release games for a franchise associated with the PlayStation for almost its entire history.
It is not clear yet if this is related to the rumors about Hideo Kojima and Microsoft that circulated last week. According to VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, the creator of Metal Gear Solid is in discussions with the Xbox about publishing his next project.
This is not the first time rumors have surfaced that Konami plans to sell licenses to use its intellectual property. In February, for example, a Japanese publisher allegedly wanted to partner with third-party studios to create new parts of its most popular series.
