And this is a four-core 15 watt APU
The seven-meter process technology did not help AMD radically change the balance in the video card market, but in the processor market, thanks to it, the company made a small revolution.
Ryzen 3 4300U can work without any cooling at all and even pass tests
We already know well about the capabilities of the CPU with the Zen 2 architecture, but, as it turned out, not all. Can a modern 15-watt energy-efficient mobile processor with four cores and sufficiently productive iGPU work without cooling at all? It turned out that it could very well.
The source conducted an experiment on the Ryzen 3 4300U, running it without any cooling. And the processor worked. And not only worked but passed tests, including Cinebench R15 and 3DMark TimeSpy!
Of course, there were some reservations here. First, the thermal imager showed that only one of the two CCX modules was active, that is, only two cores worked. Secondly, of course, performance in this mode leaves much to be desired.
For example, in Cinebench R15, the performance was 124 and 327 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively, while in the normal form, the Ryzen 3 4300U scores about 140 and 550 points, respectively.
