Ryzen 9 5950X overclocked twice as fast as Core i9-10910 according to Geekbench

It seems that someone from Apple or AMD engineers “dabbled” with the flagship Ryzen 9 5950X processor and overclocked it to 6.02 GHz. Confirmation of this in the Geekbench synthetic test database was found by the notorious Internet detective Tum_Apisak. The chip was seen as part of a system that the test identified as an iMac Pro computer.

The Ryzen 9 5950X processor appears in the mentioned database with OPN code 100-000000059-37_46 / 35_N. This model number is confirmed by the processor page on the official AMD website.

The screenshot of the Geekbench result does not show the actual frequency of the processor. In order to see it, you need to open the service file located there with the extension .gb5 on the Geekbench website. It contains technical information about the state of the system in JSON text format, which was collected at the time of the test. According to this log, the frequency range of the processor 100-000000059-37_46 / 35_N (aka Ryzen 9 5950X) ranged between 5.992 and 6.02 GHz.

Interestingly, the macOS operating system was used to test the Ryzen 9 5950X under extreme overclocking. However, this is not an Apple computer. Judging by the information on the screenshot, testing was launched on some other platform with a hacked operating system loader (Hackintosh).

Next door in the Geekbench database was also found a record of testing the Ryzen 9 3900X (Zen 2) processor overclocked to 5.89 GHz. Twitter user @ harukaze5719 created a comparison chart of processor performance based on the available data, adding the results of the Intel Core i9-10900K and Ryzen 9 3950X to the comparison.

Recall that the Ryzen 5000 series processors based on the Zen 3 architecture will go on sale on November 5. AMD’s flagship 16-core Ryzen 9 5950X is priced at $ 799. According to the official specifications, in the automatic overclocking mode, the frequency of the chip can be increased to 4.9 GHz.
