Sapphire Unveils Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + Special Edition Powered by Selected Higher Clock Navi 21 XTXH Chips
Sapphire has unveiled the updated graphics accelerator Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + Special Edition. The novelty differs from the version presented in December last year with an increased maximum GPU frequency, as well as the presence of a third 8-pin connector for additional power.
The Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + Special Edition is powered by select Navi 21 XTXH GPUs with 5120 stream processors. The previous version of the video card for the GPU in the gaming and Boost modes was declared frequencies of 2050 and 2285 MHz, respectively, which is 1.6% higher than the reference values announced by AMD for this model. In the updated version of the Special Edition, the gaming and Boost frequencies increased to 2135 and 2365 MHz, respectively. Thus, the increase in frequency relative to the nominal AMD declared is about 5.1%.
Externally, the updated version is practically no different from the previously presented version of the Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO +. The only significant distinguishing feature is the third connector for an additional power supply. The manufacturer recommends using a power supply with a capacity of 850 watts or more with the new product. Sapphire points out that the graphics card draws up to 363 watts under load. In the previous version, this figure was no more than 340 watts.
External video interfaces include three DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI, and a USB Type-C connector. It should be noted that the latter is present only in the Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + Special Edition model with marking 11308-07 and replaces one of the DisplayPort 1.4. The company also introduced version 11308-03 without USB Type-C.
The graphics card is cooled by a powerful proprietary SO Sapphire Tri-X, which includes three 100-mm Hybrid Fan Blades with ARGB-backlight.
The Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + Special Edition is equipped with dual BIOS with quiet and high-performance modes. One-touch selection is available via the Sapphire TriXX app.
According to the manufacturer, the updated version of the Radeon RX 6900 XT NITRO + Special Edition is already shipping to retailers worldwide. The company does not indicate the price of the novelty.
