They support the NVMe protocol and demonstrate data transfer rates of up to 6500 MB / s
SK Hynix announces the release of its PE8000 series of solid-state drives. According to the manufacturer, the PE8000 series is designed to meet the diverse needs of data centre customers.
The series was opened by models PE8010 and PE8030, supporting PCIe Gen4 interface. They use a TLC NAND 96-layer flash memory and a proprietary controller. The maximum storage capacity of the U.2 and U.3 form factors is 8 TB. PE8010 drives are more suitable for read-intensive workloads, while PE8030 drives are optimized for mixed loads.
In both cases, the sequential read speed reaches 6500 MB / s, sequential write – 3700 MB / s. Performance on random access operations in read mode reaches 1,100,000 IOPS, in write mode – 320,000 IOPS. Reference samples of these SSDs are already shipped to customers.
At the same time, it announced the release of PE8111, a large-capacity drive optimized for intensive reading applications. It uses the world’s first 128-layer TLC 4D NAND flash memory. SK hynix is currently developing a 16 TB version of PE8111 in the EDSFF 1U Long (E1.L) form factor, planning to develop a 32 TB version in the future. These drives are optimized for the Open Compute Project (OCP) storage platforms. They demonstrate sequential read speeds of 3400 MB / s and sequential write of 3000 MB / s. Performance on random access operations in read mode reaches 700,000 IOPS, in write mode – up to 100,000 IOPS. 16 TB PE8111 evaluation samples should be available in the second half of the year.
