Smartphone book Microsoft Surface Duo will be presented on August 24

Last October, Microsoft’s chief product officer, Panos Panay, announced that a series of foldable dual-screen devices should hit the market in 2020 – the Windows-based Surface Neo tablet and the Android-based Surface Duo smartphone. We probably wo n’t wait for the first one this year. And the second device seems to hit the market earlier than expected.

Resource Windows Central with reference to its editor-in-chief Zac Bowden said that Microsoft Surface Duo shipments will start on August 24 this year. But, probably, it was the date of the announcement that was implied: it would be strange to start supplying the gadget without the official announcement of the device. In addition, the source who gave Bowden this information also said that the mass production of the Surface Duo has already begun.

The Surface Duo was originally supposed to be unveiled and launched in late 2020. Various sources then reported that Microsoft was trying to push the launch time forward. It seems that despite the difficult situation with the coronavirus pandemic, the Redmond giant still succeeded.

Additional indirect confirmation of the imminent announcement of the device may be the fact that the gadget has recently appeared in the databases of various certification regulators, including the FCC, Bluetooth SIG, and UL LLC. In addition, the Surface Duo smartphone has recently been actively  “shone”  in the hands of the company’s top managers. In terms of technical specifications, the first Android smartphone from Microsoft is credited with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor combined with 6 GB of RAM, two 5.6-inch AMOLED displays, one 11-megapixel camera and support for the proprietary Surface Pen stylus.
