Samsung now has only 15.6% of the market
Sony has long been the market leader in CMOS sensors for smartphones. And in the third quarter of 2022, it even further broke away from its closest competitor in the face of Samsung.
According to Omida, Sony took 51.6% of the market following the results of the stipulated period. Samsung took 15.6%, and closed the top three Omnivision with a share of 9.7%. A year earlier, Sony held 46% of the market, while Samsung had 29% of the market. That is, the share of Sony has grown, albeit not very significantly, but the share of Samsung has almost halved!
Analysts believe that the trend will continue, in particular, thanks to Sony’s huge inch sensor, which various manufacturers are actively starting to use for their flagships.
