Despite previous rumors, Sony has no plans to release a new VR headset specifically for the next-generation console. Instead, it is ready to offer a free alternative for PlayStation VR owners. The PlayStation support website explains that a dedicated PlayStation Camera adapter is available.

This adapter will allow the PS VR headset to be used in supported PS4 games on PS5 consoles – including games that require PS Move controllers or PS VR aim controller. PlayStation technical support indicates that all owners of a PS VR headset are entitled to receive a PlayStation Camera adapter – one copy per address. To do this, you must submit an official application on the dedicated PlayStation page and provide the serial number of the PS VR processor module, your first and last name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number.

Adapter delivery times vary by region. In Japan, shipping will begin in late October, in North and Latin America in mid-November. In Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand – also in mid-November. The delivery time can be up to two weeks, but it is free.
