Sony removes release dates for PS5 games from CES 2021 trailer

This week, Sony posted a trailer for the PS5 during CES 2021 on its YouTube channel, citing the launch of its newest console as the largest ever, as well as providing updated release dates for various next-gen games. But, apparently, everything is not so simple, since the company later released an updated trailer.

In the small print in the original video, for example, it was reported that Capcom’s Pragmata would be released in 2023 (previously the launch was planned for 2022 ).

Also the intriguing Kena: Bridge of Spirits launch time was named March 2021, not just “spring” or “first quarter”. The mysterious Project Asia from Square Enix and Luminous Productions has been set for January 2022. This is a 2-year PS5 exclusive, so don’t wait for it on Xbox Series S and X until January 2024. Returnal will launch on March 19, Solar Ash in June, Little Devil Inside in July, and Stray and Ghostwire: Tokyo in October, according to the original trailer.

Also, the PlayStation in the video indicated just 2021 as the release time for Ratchet & Clank: Rift and Horizon Forbidden West, although it previously announced that they would appear in the first and second half of the year, respectively.

However, later, Sony uploaded an updated version of the trailer to its YouTube channel – this time the release dates for side projects were removed from the corresponding page with small print. Here’s the updated video:

It looks like this was inside information that was not intended to be released to the public at this stage – perhaps these are also approximate dates that the developers are targeting. This makes sense, given the fact that usually this kind of news comes separately about each game and is a significant event. Besides, in the original video, January was misspelt in English – “January”, which once again speaks of a mistake.

So Sony didn’t come up with anything better than to pretend that nothing happened and the public saw nothing.
