Stop the panic. Three-year-old Xiaomi Mi 6 already gets the latest MIUI 12 from a select few
But on the list, there was a lite version of Xiaomi Mi 6X. This was unexpected, as numerous leaks talked about the possibility of installing MIUI 12 on Mi 6.
Now the company has clarified this issue. MIUI’s chief product manager, Liu Ming, confirmed that the smartphone will receive an update. True, he talked about the beta version of the shell, while in the mentioned list we are talking about a stable version of the firmware.
Later, a message appeared about the start of the distribution of MIUI 12 for participants in closed testing.
Thus, at least in testing Xiaomi Mi 6 is involved. But it will be strange if a simpler model Xiaomi Mi 6X gets a stable MIUI 12, and the flagship Mi 6 does not.
Xiaomi Mi 6 debuted in April 2017 with an installed MIUI 8 shell based on Android 7.1 Nougat. Since then, the smartphone has been updated many times – it received MIUI 9, MIUI 10, and then MIUI 11. The operating system reached the version of Android 9 Pie.
